Interview: Chamaine from Sweet Gibraltar Weddings

We asked Gibraltar wedding planner Chamaine why she became a wedding planner and why Gibraltar is such a good wedding abroad choice.

How did you decide to become a wedding planner? / What inspired you to start your business?
I’m constantly asked “Why did I decide to become a Wedding Planner?” I guess the best way to tell you about how, and why I decided to become a Wedding Planner is to first give you an idea of how I started off.
I knew that I liked events, and I knew that I wanted a way for me to express my creativity.
Then my cousin got engaged and asked me to help out with her wedding. And that was the spark for me.
And guess what- I LOVE MY JOB!

What's the best part about being a wedding planner?
The satisfaction of seeing my couples enjoy their day to the fullest, not having to worry about anything and making sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible, even when crises occur, is probably my favourite part of my job. I enjoy bringing their ideas of what they want in their wedding together and creating designs and layouts. And I love getting to really know my couples and making sure that they’re happy.

Which areas of Gibraltar do you enjoy organising weddings in, and why?
I enjoy organising weddings outside of the Registry Office whether this is at the stunning Botanical Gardens or at the top of the Rock (Mons Calpe Suite).

What's the most unusual wedding you've organised?
I once had a couple turn up at the Registry Office all dressed up as Beauty and Beast. Imagine the couple walking up the street towards the Registry... hilarious but true.

What's the most popular type of wedding you organise?
We have organised many high profile weddings in the past from Hollywood actors to football stars to TV presenters. I wouldn’t say I have a popular one, each wedding is different.

What advice would you give couples wanting to get married in Gibraltar?
I would recommend anyone wishing to come down to Gibraltar to get married to plan in advance as slots are booked rather quick. We ourselves now in late 2017 are already planning weddings for 2020!
