How to Get Married in Andorra

Like in France and Spain, one of you has to be resident in Andorra to legally marry there, but you can always do the legal bit at home and have a blessing in Andorra. It's a pretty country with soaring mountains and a friendly welcome - what better place to have a blessing and cement your love for each other?!

Andorra Marriage Law Requirements

What are the legal requirements to get married in Andorra?
Legal age for marriage without parental consent is 16 years old for both men and women.
Bride and Groom may not be related by blood, marriage or adoption.


How long do I have to be resident in Andorra before I can get married?
One of you must be officially resident in order to legally get married in Andorra.


Getting a marriage licence
You must send the documents below to the Registry Office in Andorra, they will then confirm that the documents are correct before you must both go to the Registry to sign an intent to marry declaration.
Your intent to marry is then published in the Official Gazette of Andorra for 15 days. If there are no objections after 15 days then you are granted permission to marry.
Once you have obtained your marriage licence (which is valid for 6 months) you can then arrange to have a civil marriage at a church or registry office in Andorra. 


What legal papers do I need to take with me?
Full birth certificates.
Certificates of no impediment.
Residency certificate stating where you are both resident, and Immigration card if you live in Andorra but are not a citizen.
If you have been divorced then the final divorce papers must be shown.
If you are widowed then the death certificate of your previous spouse and your former wedding certificate must be shown.
All documents must be translated into Catalan and stamped with an Apostille. French and Spanish documents are also accepted.
