Annalisa and Bobby, near Milan

country wedding in italy

Annalisa and Bobby met in London seven years ago at a mutual friend’s birthday party and have been together for six years.

They married in an Indian ceremony in Villa Cavenago in Trezzo sull’Adda near Milan as Annalisa is from a small town near there.

Annalisa says, "our wedding on the 2nd August was the perfect mix between two apparently different cultures: Italian and Indian. In reality we actually share the same values for love, family, dance and also food! The ceremony started late in the afternoon due to the heat of the summer day and it continued throughout the night. We had a nine course meal that everyone seemed to enjoy (two menus: one vegetarian and one non vegetarian and both Italian with Indian twist). It was a great day and we had a great time!"

Chiara and Marcello, Emilia Romagna

indian wedding in italy

Chiara and Marcello live close to Country Villa Ca' De Magni in Italy, and they wanted to enjoy their beloved local area from the terrace of this beautiful villa. They chose to get married in September - a stunning month to watch the leaves change colour on the vines with a few grapes peeking out from behind them.

Chiara and Marcello wanted to use these vineyards as a backdrop for their wedding photos, with the local ancient castle overlooking the vines.

Their wedding had a colourful theme, with hydrangeas, roses and small white flowers used to enhance the setting and give an impressionist air. The flowers were used ??elegantly in every part of the villa: bows, flowers, candles, ribbons, small boxes as placeholders and even small garlands to seal the packs of high-quality honey that Chiara and Marcello used as wedding favors.

The local honey is a famous product of the area and they choose particular honey flavours for their guests: raspberry, mixed berries and "gianduia" (a special type of chocolate).

The wedding ceremony itself took place inside the villa, while the park surrounding it was transformed into an enchanted forest, lit by small bells transparent with the light of candles, and the orangery also adorned with flowers.

The couple used photos taken personally by them during their travels for the tableau de mariage/table seating plan which was inspired both by their journey together and by significant places for them as a couple.

They cut the cake together and it was a lovely monument to sweetness and romantic creativity - a masterpiece of decoration and details.

Barbara and Roberto, Emilia Romagna

medieval wedding in italy

Barbara an HR expert and Roberto, who works in SEO, were engaged for 3 years and decided that to celebrate their nuptials they would have a medieval-themed celebration in a historical location with medieval recipes and music. They chose to have a garden ceremony, followed by a reception at an ancient 14th century Italian court (a so called “Rocca”), in the Emilia Romagna region in northern Italy.

They decided on medieval colours of white and deep red for their wedding: the flowers were red carnations and white roses, placecards were shield cookies with their initials, R and B on, whilst their “tableau marriage” was a sort of ancient banner. The bride’s two sisters were bridesmaids, the groom’s brother was the best ma, and the bride wore white with a black ruffle at the bottom of her dress - very dramatic! Barbara says, "we chose our venue because Micol of Studio MSE took us there and right away we saw that the Rocca was perfect for us! The beautiful Barozzi’s pigeon tower was a magic setting for our symbolic ceremony. The ceremony was moving, the most special moment was when the celebrant tied our hands together with 3 ribbons, a red one, a green one and a white one!"

After the ceremony they held a true medieval banquet with typical recipes rediscovered by the chef, and fabulous musicians who played a type of ancient woodwind instrument and a medieval drum – they once played with Sting! Their first dance was a traditional medieval wedding ballad which was very evocative of the period.

The couple spent their wedding night in a magical medieval tower in Bologna. Barbara's tip for couples - "have your big day exactly as you dream, even if the theme you love is a little bit strange"

Alice and Victor: Lake Como, Italy

couple marrying by lake como, italy

Alice and Victor first met through mutual friends at Milan’s Sports Center Harbour Club, but after that first meeting they were not in contact with each other at all. Coincidently, they both then ended up on holiday at the same place, and that time they fell in love and from then onwards they never left each other's side.

It took 10 months to plan their wedding and they chose to incorporate Victor's passion for cars and Alice's favourite colour, green, into the wedding theme. Marrying at Villa Sala, Lake Como, Italy on 28 September 2012, they felt like the day went by so quickly that they wish they'd started it earlier! Alice's favourite moment of the day was cutting the wedding cake as that was the first moment of the day when she felt really relaxed.

Alice and Victor's top tips for couples: to definitely hire a professional and experienced wedding planner as they take all the stress out of the planning, but also to ensure you relax and pamper yourself for a couple of days before the ceremony to make sure you're at your best on the day. Indulge in some pampering, a massage or spend the day in a spa - just relax and don’t listen to anyone else!

Paula and Louis: Florence, Italy

wedding cake and view over florence, italy

Paula left Portugal when she fall in love with Louis and moved to Angola ( where they live now). Years ago, during a holiday in Florence, Louis bought wedding rings in a small shop on the historic Pontevecchio bridge and proposed to Paula. They exchanged their vows in front of God, with no guests, in a small church in Florence.

14 years later, and after having two daughters, they decided to marry officially in front of their family and friends from all over world in Villa Vedetta, a luxury boutique Hotel in Florence, on 30 June 2012.

The Bride's favourite moment: during the ceremony when my lovely daughter Jonna's speech meant I couldn't stop crying with emotion!

The Groom's favourite moment: during the reception when I was having fun and enjoying my time with friends and family.

Paula and Louis' advice for other brides: live your day as much as you can

All arrangements and flowers were by Francis Flowers.
