Cambodia Marriage Law Requirements

What are the legal requirements to get married in Cambodia?
Legal age for marriage is 18 years for both women and 20 years for men.
Bride and Groom may not be related by blood, marriage or adoption.

How long do I have to be resident in Cambodia before I can get married?
You will need to make an appointment with an Official at the British Embassy to sign an Affidavit of Marriage. You must be a resident in Cambodia for 21 clear days immediately before the Affidavit. A Notice of Marriage will be placed on the Consular Notice Board at the Embassy for 21 days before the Certificate of No Impediment is issued.
Alternatively you can apply for a Superintendent’s Registrar Certificate in the UK which is then shown to the British Embassy in Phnom Penh to immediately obtain your Certificate of No Impediment.

Getting a marriage licence
You must first write to the Deputy Prime Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Phnom Penh to request permission to marry. After considering your marriage request, the Minister will issue a note to the Phnom Penh Municipality (Town Hall) or Provinces where you reside to allow you to get married. The Town Hall will issue a Marriage Certificate for the couple.
You must then take the papers mentioned below to the municipality where the wedding will take place.

What legal papers do I need to take with me?
Passports and photocopied copies showing your Cambodian visa.
Certificate of no impediment.
A medical certificate from Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.
If you have been divorced then the final divorce papers must be shown.
If you are widowed then the death certificate of your previous spouse must be shown.
