Legal age for marriage is 18 years for both men and women. If under 18 years
old then parental consent is required.
Two witnesses are required.
How long do I have to be resident in Bahamas before I can get married?
You must be resident for at least one day before applying for a marriage
licence, which can be issued on the same day.
Getting a marriage licence
Passports valid at least 6 months after departure.
Return air tickets and
Bahamas Immigration card obtained on arrival.
A declaration that you are free to marry must be sworn in front of a Notary
Public in the Bahamas or in your country of residence and must be submitted
along with the application for the marriage licence.
If you have been divorced then the final divorce papers must be shown.
If you are widowed then the death certificate of your previous spouse must be
shown.
All documents must be notarised by a solicitor.
