How to marry in Asia / Pacific

"Traditional" tropical weddings have long been the dream of many couples, with white sand beaches, gently swaying palm trees and clear blue seas. If you're looking for a romantic beach wedding the islands of the Indian Ocean and South Pacific make picture-perfect wedding destinations.

You could equally choose a city or country wedding in Australia or New Zealand, or pick one of the many exotic countries in Asia for your perfect wedding location. Just make sure you leave enough time to arrange your paperwork at home before you leave for your amazing wedding - it won't happen if your documents aren't in order!

Please note all information below is a generalisation only to show you how to marry in each country. Documentation varies depending on your nationality and where you live, so double check with your wedding planner in the country you wish to get married in before you confirm everything.

This can be obtained from your local department of foreign affairs or your embassy in the country in which you are getting married.

Some countries require foreign legal documents to be stamped with an apostille which then makes them legal documents in that country.

These are similar to a Certificate of No Impediment, but instead you have to swear you are single in front of a legal representative.
